Anna Princeva is making her debut at Oper Frankfurt, singing Cio-Cio-San in Madame Butterfly, a role she sang for the first time at the 2023 Bregenz Festival, then again at the Lindenoper in Berlin and Stuttgart State Opera. She returned to the Deutsch Oper am Rhein earlier this season to sing Rosalinde (Die Fledermaus). Last season she sang her first Evas in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg at Oper Bonn, Norma (another role debut) at Opera Vlaanderen in Antwerp and Alice Ford (Falstaff) in Glyndebourne, a role she sang for the first time at the Hamburg State Opera. She has also sung Liù (Turandot) at Covent Garden in London, Mimì (La bohème) and Nedda (I Pagliacci); the last two roles she sang at at the Hamburg State Opera, and Elena (I vespri siciliani) in Rome. Her repertoire includes Mozart's Donna Anna (Don Giovanni), Countess (Le nozze di Figaro) and Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte), Verdi's Leonora (Il trovatore), the title roles in Giovanna d’Arco and La traviata and Elisabetta di Valois (Don Carlos), Tatjana in Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin, Marguerite in Gounod's Faust and Wagner's Freia (Das Rheingold) and Elsa (Lohengrin). Other recent engagements have taken her to places including Nürnberg, Basel, Sydney, Graz, Florence, Prague, Kazan, St. Petersburg and Bangkok. She studied singing, piano and conducting in her home town of St. Petersburg before concentrating on singing at the Conservatorio Pergolesi in Fermo, and took part in many music courses run by people including Francisco Araiza and Grace Bumbry.
