Ghiulnara Raileanu

Moldovian soprano Ghiulnara Raileanu is making her debut at Oper Frankfurt, singing the title role in Manon Lescaut. She studied at the St. Neaga College of Music before joining the Academy for Music, Theater and the Fine Arts in Chișinău to train with Tatiana Busuioc, graduating in 2008. She took part in belcanto masterclasses run by the renowned Romanian soprano Mariana Nicolesco. She's been thrilling audiences at the National Opera & Ballet Theatre in Chișinău since 2010. Her repertoire includes Floria Tosca (Tosca), Mimi (La Bohème), Liu (Turandot), Desdemona (Otello), Leonora (Il trovatore) and Countess Almaviva (Le nozze di Figaro), a role with which she made her professional debut. She received an award for the best debut by a singer when she appeared as Amelia in Giuseppe Verdi's Un ballo in maschera at a Gala in the National Opera in Iași, Romania. Recent engagements abroad and internationally included Tosca at the State Opera in Prague and very successful performances of the same role, in English, at Bath Opera in the UK. She sang her first Manon Lescauts at the State Opera in Prague in the spring of 2025. During the course of her careeer she has worked with conductors including Andriy Yurkevych, Nicolae Dohotaru, Alexander Samoila, Manuel Busto, Cristian Florea, Akiro Mori, Peter Blackwood, Ondrej Olos, Vincenzo Milletari and Simone di Felice.
