One of the world's leading opera singers is making her debut at Oper Frankfurt. This Latvian soprano's been a regular guest at leading international opera houses, festivals and concert halls, including La Scala Milan, the Opéra National de Paris, the Met in New York, Covent Garden, the Bayerische Staatoper in Munich, Vienna State Opera and Zurich Opera, working with leading conductors including Zubin Mehta, Antonio Pappano, Valery Gergiev, Fabio Luisi, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Daniele Gatti, Gustavo Dudamel and Lorenzo Viotti since making her breakthrough at the 2009 Salzburg Festival under Riccardo Muti. Her repertoire ranges from the baroque, bel canto and Verdi, Tchaikovsky and Britten. Recent engagements have included Elisabeth de Valois (Don Carlos) at the Opéra national de Paris, Cio-cio-san (Madama Butterfly) at the Vienna State Opera and Zurich Opera, Cherubini's Médée at La Scala Milan and the Staatsoper in Berlin, Violetta (La traviata) at the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples, Leonore (Il trovatore) in Munich, London and Berlin, Mimì (La bohème) in Milan and Desdemona (Otello) at the Maggio musicale in Florence. Future plans include Norma at La Scala Milan, Leonora at the Teatro Real de Madrid, Aida at the Staasoper in Berlin and Arena di Verona and Elena in Verdi's I vespri siciliani at Covent Garden in London. Her discography includes releases by Deutsche Grammophon, Warner Classics (EMI), BR Klassik and Naxos. Her own label, Prima Classic, released Spirito (dramatic bel canto scenes and arias), Verdi's La traviata, Bellini's Norma (new edition by Roger Paker), Elle (a solo album of French operatic arias) and Credo (a selection of religious and spiritual songs). She also sang Imogene on a Prima Classic recording of Bellini's Il Pirata, which won the 2022 International Classical Music Award for »Recording of the Year«. She was awarded the Order of the Three Stars, the highest award in Latvia, for her artistic achievements in December 2016. In 2017/18 she became the Munich Radio Orchestra's first Artist in Residence. She was named Artist of the Year at the 2020 International Classical Music Awards (ICMA), won Latvia's Ministry of Culture prize for outstanding achievements and the very first Premio alla Carriera »Toti dal Monte« in 2021. This was followed by Forum Opera's Lifetime Achievement Award, awarded by the Opéra national de Paris, in April 2025.
