Sebastian Wittiber

Sebastian Wittiber was born in Frankfurt and played with the Hessen and European (ECYO) youth orchestras. He joined the hr-Symphony Orchestra in 1999, when he was 21, after studying with Vladislav Brunner at the University for Music & the Peforming Arts in Frankfurt. He’s a regular with other important orchestras including the Berlin Philharmonic, the Gewandhaus Orchestra in Leipzig, Staatskapelle in Dresden, Mahler Chamber Orchestra and the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra, working with leading conductors including Claudio Abbado, Christian Thielemann, Andris Nelsons, Kirill Petrenko and Herbert Blomstedt at home and abroad. He’s also been a member of the Bayreuth Festival’s orchestra since 2007 and teaches at Frankfurt’s University for Music. This founding member of the Antares Ensemble and the hr-Symphony Orchestra’s Woodwind Octet is passionate about chamber music.
