Björn Gard

Björn Gard studied at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy University for Music and Tanz in Leipzig with Valentino Worlitzsch and Prof Peter Hörr from 2021-24 before going to be taught by Jan Ickert at the HfMDK in Frankfurt this year. He took part in chamber music classes held by Profs Boris Kusnezow, Caspar Franz and Jaques Ammon and played with the Saar State Youth Orchestra and youth Ensemble Neue Musik Rheinland-Pfalz/Saar for many years. He joined, and sits on the board of, the Jungen Deutschen Philharmonie in 2023. He won a first price at the 2021 George Manoliu Master of Strings International Competition and 3rd prize and audience prize, with his piano quintet, at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy University for Music and Tanz in Leipzig's chamber music competition. He has also been stepping in regularly to play in music comedies at Oper Leipzig since 2023. He gained further invaluable inspiration taking part in masterclasses held by people including Peter Bruns, Troels Svane, Lucas Fels, Julian Steckel, Marc Coppey & Jan Ickert.
