Simón Orfila

Born on the island of Menorca, Simón Orfila studied in Bulgaria and Madrid and with Alfredo Kraus. His repertoire includes Ramfis, Oroveso (Norma), Raimondo (Lucia di Lammermoor), Henry VIII (Anna Bolena), Giorgio (I puritani) , Timur (Turandot) and the title role in Mozarts Le nozze di Figaro. He is a regular guest at leading festivals and opera houses around the world including the Teatro Real de Madrid, the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Teatro del Maggio Musicale in Florence, Teatro San Carlo in Naples, Oper Graz and houses in Lisbon, Oviedo, Genoa, Seoul and Tokyo. He has also appeared in concert and recital in Spain (Menorca, Mallorca, Madrid, Barcelona, Seville and Alicante), Helsinborg (Sweden) and Toulouse. Recent engagements have included Escamillo (Carmen) in Barcelona, San Sebastian and at the Teatro Colòn in Buenos Aires, the title role in Don Pasquale in Bilbao, Colline (La Bohème) in La Coruña and Zaccaria in Verdi's Nabucco in Seville, a role you can hear him singing this season at Cologne Opera. Other projects during the 2024/25 season include Rossini's Il barbiere di Siviglia at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo.
