Javier Cuenca

Javier Cuenca was born in Salda, Argentina, in 1993 and became fascinated with his country's rich musical tradition when he started being taught to play classic guitar by Gustavo Kantor when he was young. He moved to Germany and studied with Prof Christopher Brandt at the HfMDK in Frankfurt, gaining his masters in 2021. He has appeared with the SalBa Trio, is well known for playing tango and folk music and performed with the Frankfurt Guitar Trio for Yehudi Menuhin's Live Music Now. He played solo in Minas Borboudakis‘ Metamorphosis on tour with the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie, in My Fair Lady at the 2023 Burg Festival in Bad Vilbel and the Lucerne Festival Academy with the Ensemble Modern's International Academy (IEMA). He has won many prizes and scholarships, including ones from the Fondo nacional de las artes in Argentina, a Deutschlandstipendium, Stibet III and Yehudi Menuhin's Live Music Now. He is appearing at Oper Frankfurt for the first time.
