Ava Dodd

Ava Dodd’s back at Oper Frankfurt, where she made her debut singing the Priestess in Aida, to sing Madeleine / Madame de Latour in our new production of Adolphe Adam’s Le Postillon de Lonjumeau. This Irish soprano, who won the 2023 Yves Paternot Award at the Verbier Festival, studied at the Royal Irish Academy of Music and Royal College of Music in London. She is one of English National Opera’s Harewood Artists and an Associate “Mozartists” Artist. Highlights during the 2024/25 season include her return to the Wexford Festival for Tilburina in Stanford’s The Critic and English National Opera, for Adina (The Elixir of Love) and Barbarina (The Marriage of Figaro). Recent engagements have included 2nd Niece (Peter Grimes) and Rosina (The Barber of Seville) at English National Opera, Fennimore in Kurt Weill’s Der Silbersee at the Opéra national de Lorraine and Sonia in Camille Erlanger’s L’Aube rouge at the Wexford Festival. While a member of the Ensemble at the Stadttheater in Klagenfurt (during the 2022/23 season) she sang the Forest Bird (Siegfried), Oscar (Un ballo in Maschera), Mirjam in the world premiere of Bernard Land’s opera HIOB and in Carmina Burana. Other awards have included prizes at the international Hans Gabor Belvedere singing competition, winning the Laffont competition and first prizes at the Romania Trophaeum Artis Cantorum and Glenarm Festival of Voice competitions.
