Irish soprano Ava Dodd, who joined the Stadttheater in Klagenfurt’s ensemble last season, is making her debut at Oper Frankfurt singing the Priestess (role debut) in Aida. Recent roles in Klagenfurt have included the Forest Bird (Siegfried), Oscar (Un ballo in Maschera), Mirjam in the world premiere of Bernhard Lang’s Hiob and the soprano in Orff’s Carmina Burana. In 2021 she sang Perdita in Karl Goldmark‘s A Winter Tale at the Wexford Festival and Yum-Yum in The Mikado for Lyric Opera Ireland. She has also appeared with orchestras including the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland, the Nürnberg and Kärntner symphony orchestras, the RTE Concert Orchestra and Latvian Symphony Orchestra. After gaining her masters at the Royal College of Music in London she gained further experience and inspiration spending time with the International Meistersinger Academy, the Wexford Factory and Leeds Lieder Festival. Awards have included prizes at the international Hans Gabor Belvedere singing competition, winning the Laffont competition and first prizes at the Romania Trophaeum Artis Cantorum and Glenarm Festival of Voice competitions.
