The internationally sought-after tenor Marco Jentzsch is making his debut at Oper Frankfurt singing the title role in this new production of Tannhäuser. Roles this season include Florestan (Fidelio) at the Staatsoper Berlin, Parsifal at the Staatsoper in Hannover and Siegmund (Die Walküre) at the Staatstheater in Wiesbaden. In recent seasons he has sung many lead Wagner roles including Tristan and Lohengrin at the Staatstheater in Wiesbaden, Stolzing (Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg) at Cologne Opera, the Komische Oper Berlin and Glyndebourne Festival and Loge & Siegmund in his first Ring at the Konzert Theater Bern. He has sung Tannhäuser before, at the Stadttheater in Klagenfurt and Eisenach Wartburg. His repertoire also includes Froh in Rheingold, which he sang at La Scala Milan under Daniel Barenboim and the Staatsoper in Berlin, and Erik in The Flying Dutchman , a role he sings this summer at Zurich Opera. Other engagements have taken this artist to places including De Nederlandse Opera in Amsterdam, the Hamburg State Opera, Semperoper in Dresden, Oper Leipzig, Theater Basel, the Landestheater in Linz and Tel Aviv (under Zubin Mehta). Other important roles have included Max (Der Freischütz), Peter Grimes, Drum Major (Wozzeck), Hoffmann (The Tales of Hoffmann) and Bacchus (Ariadne auf Naxos). He has also appeared in operetta singing roles including Camille de Rossillon (The Merry Widow), Graf Tassilo (Gräfin Mariza) and Prinz Sou-Chong (The Land of Smiles). After studying with Irmgard Hartmann-Dressler in Berlin he joined the ensembles at Theater Erfurt (2005) and the Staatsoper in Hannover (2006-2008).
