The baritone Gideon Henska gained early musical experience with the Thoman Choir in Leipzig. He is studying singing at the State University for Music in Mannheim. His first experiences of being on stage were as the Speaker in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte at the 2019 Ettlingen Castle Festival. He also sang a Flemish Deputy in Verdi’s Don Carlos (2020) at the Saarländs Staatstheater, Aeneas in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas (2021) with Mannheim’s University for Music, Dancaïro in Bizet’s Carmen (2021) at the International Opera Academy in Weikersheim and Ettlingen Castle Festival (2022), Guglielmo in Mozart’s Così fan tutte at the Cosmopolis Festival in Kavala / Greece (2021) and the Mayor in Bizet’s Le Docteur Miracle with Mannheim’s University for Music (2022). He is making his debut at Oper Frankfurt in this new Britten The Prodigal Son / The Burning Fiery Furnace double bill.
