Georg Zeppenfeld, one of the world's most sought-after basses, is back at Oper Frankfurt, where he appeared for the first time stepping in at short notice to sing Veit Pogner, which he was singing at the Vienna State Opera at the time, for this recital. After time spent in Münster and Bonn he joined the ensemble at the Semperoper in Dresden, who crowned him a Kammersänger in 2015, in 2001, where he is still at home. He enjoys great success in German and Italian repertoire and in concert. He sings regularly in Bayreuth, sometimes 4 or 5 roles a summer, including Hunding, Daland, King Marke, Gurnemanz, Landgraf Hermann, Heinrich der Vogler and Viet Pogner, and is a regular guest at leading opera houses around the world including those in London, Munich, Berlin, Chicago, New York, Hamburg, San Francisco, Vienna & Milan and the Salzburg, Baden-Baden & Glyndebourne festivals. Recent engagements have included Rocco (Fidelio) and Sarastro in a new production of Zauberflöte at the Vienna State Opera and King Heinrigh in Lohengrin in Dresden. He has given recitals at places including the Schubertiade in Schwarzenberg, Opera Zurich and the Semperoper. Born in Attendorn, he won a prize from the Semperoper Foundation. He graduated in teaching music and German while studying singing at the music universities in Detmold and Cologne.
