The soprano Marika Dzhaiani comes from Georgia and grew up in the Ukraine. She started studying the piano and singing at the State Academy for the Arts and Culture in Lugansk when she was 15, before studying for her bachelors at the National University in Kyiv in art and music. She achieved her bachelors in teaching singing at the Music Academy in Wiesbaden before studying for her masters in operatic singing at the University of Music in Mannheim with Snezana Stamenkovic. Recent engagements have included the Dirne (prostitute) in Philippe Boesmans’ opera Reigen at the Nationaltheater in Mannheim, Konstanze in Mozart’s Die Entführung aus dem Serail for children at the Pfalztheater in Kaiserslautern, Sophie de Palma in Terrence McNally’s play Masterclass in the Zimmer Theater Heidelberg and in Magdeburg. Concert work has included Catalani’s E minor Mass at Kloster Eberbach. She’s making her debut at Oper Frankfurt as a member of the Vocal Ensemble in the world premiere of Žuraj’s Blühen in the Bockenheimer Depot.
