Alexandra Tsiokou

violin

Alexandra Tsiokou was born in Frankfurt am Main where she began learning the violin. She started taking lessons from Prof. Ina Kertscher at the University for Music and the Performing Arts there when she was 13 before going to study with Prof. Herwig Zack in Würzburg in 2018, where she is currently completing her bachelor studies. She gained further experience and inspiration in masterclasses run by people including Viktor Tretyakov, Natalia Prishepenko, Ingolf Turban, Arvine Arditti and at the Kronberg Academy, and early orchestral experience performing with Hessen’s youth orchestra, the German youth orchestra and the Moritzburg Festival Orchestra, including time spent as deputy leader. This gave her the chance of working in different countries with renowned conductors and soloists and various chamber music formations. She has often appeared as a soloist with the Student Philharmonie in Hannover and the Cologne orchestra society. She was awarded a scholarship from the German Musikleben Foundation, who allow her to play on a violin made by Giovanni G. Pazzini (1780). After an apprenticeship with the Würzburg Philharmonic during the 2019/20 season she joined the Paul Hindemith Orchester Akademie in Frankfurt in 2021 and plays 1st violin with the Frankfurter Opern und Museumsorchester this season.
