While Thomas Schobert was studying at the University of Music in Nürnberg he was often invited to perform roles in contemporary works. He's been a member of the Bayreuth Festival's chorus since  2003. He started working at the theatre in Trier 2006 before going under contract to the Städtische Bühnen in Wuppertal in 2008, where roles included Sarastro, Osmin, van Bett, Oberst Ollendorf, Dr. Bartolo, Rocco, the Doctor in Wozzeck and Colline. He joined Oper Frankfurt's chorus in 2016.
