Gerold Huber studied at the University for Music in Munich with Friedemann Berger and attended Lieder classes held by Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau in Berlin. In 1998 he and the baritone Christian Gerhaher, who have been performing Lieder together since they were at school, were awarded the Prix International Pro Musicis in Paris/New York. He is a regular guest at festivals including the Schubertiade in Schwarzenberg, the Schleswig Holstein Musik Festival, Rheingau Musik Festival and important venues such as the Philharmonie in Cologne, Konzerthaus and Musikverein in Vienna, the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Wigmore Hall in London, Frick Collection in New York and the Salzburg Festspielhaus. Gerold Huber accompanies many of today's leading singers, including Christiane Karg, Christina Landshamer, Ruth Ziesak, Maximilian Schmitt, Rolando Villazón, Martin Mitterrutzner and Franz-Josef Selig, and chamber music partners include the Artemis and Henschel string quartets. He took up a professorship at the University for Music in Würzburg in 2013, moving to the University for Music in Munich in 2022. There are two solo CDs of works by Beethoven and Schumann and many prize-winning recordings with Christian Gerhaher. Gerold Huber's extensive discography includes recordings with Günther Groissböck, Bernarda Fink and Ruth Ziesak. A box set of Schumann Lieder with Christian Gerhaher, which they have worked on for years, was released in 2021.
