Bogdan Michael Kisch

Bogdan Michael Kisch, born in Cluj-Napoca /Romania in 1990, grew up near Bodensee and started learning the cello when he was six. He studied cello with Prof. Martin Ostertag at the Music University in Karlsruhe and piano and chamber music with Prof. Angelika Merkle at the University for Music and the Performing Arts in Frankfurt. He founded the Gutfreund Trio in 2012, which has won several national and international awards including 3rd prize at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy University Competition in Berlin, the Friends of Young Musicians in Germany prize and Frankfurt's Polytechnic Gesellschaft's 18th chamber music competition. They are finishing off their studies as we speak in Prof. Angelika Merkle's class at the HfMDK in Frankfurt. He also gained invaluable experience in masterclasses held by Prof. Patrick Demenga, Prof. Wen-Sinn Yang, Prof. Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt, Prof. Wolfgang Boettcher, the Jean Paul Trio and Fauré- and Belcea Quartett. He is a member of the Frankfurter Opern und Museumsorchesters and plays an instrument made by the Freiburger violin making master Ersen Aycan.
