The mezzo-soprano Susanne Gritschneder is making her debut at Oper Frankfurt, as Fortunata in Maderna's Satyricon. Born in Munich, she was a member of the ensemble at the Theater St. Gallen from 2012 – 2017, where roles included Mary (Der fliegende Holländer / The Flying Dutchman), La Cieca (La Gioconda), Brigitta (Die tote Stadt / The Dead City), Olga (Eugene Onegin), Maddalena (Rigoletto), Afra (La Wally), 3rd and 2nd Lady (Die Zauberflöte), Ramiro (La finta giardiniera) and Dryade (Ariadne auf Naxos). Recent engagements have included Suzuki (Madama Butterfly), Flosshilde (Das Rheingold), Schwertleite (Die Walküre), solo alto (Parsifal) and Mother Goose (The Rake’s Progress) at Oper Leipzig and John Cage’s Europeras I&II at the 2012 Ruhr Triennale. She takes part in the world premiere of Christian Favre's Davel at Opéra de Lausanne in 2020. A busy concert career has taken Susanne Gritschneder to places including the Menuhin Festival in Gstaadt, with Mahler's Liedern eines fahrenden Gesellen in the Filharmonia Łódź and with the Munich Radio Orchestra under Ulf Schirmer at the Richard Strauss Festival in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. She studied at the University for Arts in Bern and is a much sought-after Lieder singer, who has appeared in recital in places including the Heidelberg Spring Festival, Cologne Philharmonie and Gasteig in Munich.
