A long and extraordinary career has taken the British tenor Graham Clark to leading opera houses all over the world. Now he is back at Oper Frankfurt, where he sang the Fool in Reimann's Lear and Hauk-Šendorf in Die Sache Makropulos/The Makropoulos Case, to sing Monsieur Taupe in another new production: Capriccio. Recent engagements have included Dr. Cajus (Falstaff) at the Opéra National in Paris, The Marne Seargent (world premiere of Iain Bell's In Parenthesis) at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London and Welsh National Opera, the Prince (Lulu), Captain (Wozzeck) and Kunz Vogelgesang (Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg) at the Staatsoper in Berlin. Plans for 2018 include From the House of the Dead at Covent Garden and Monsieur Taupe at Garsington Opera. He was a member of the ensemble at English National Opera for many years. Graham Clark took part in more than 120 performances in Bayreuth (where roles included Loge, Mime and David) and appeared regularly, for many seasons, at the Metropolitan Opera in New York (where roles included Captain Vere in Billy Budd, Steva in Jenufa and Herodes in Salome). Many films and recordings document his broad and varied achievements. Graham Clark was nominated three times for the »Outstanding Individual Achievement in Opera« and he won an Olivier Award in 1986 for his portrayal of Mephistopheles in Busoni's Doktor Faust. He was awarded an honorary doctorate by Loughborough University in 1999.
