Agnieszka Rehlis is back at Oper Frankfurt to repeat her portrayal of Amneris in last season's new production of Aida, in which she sang the role when making her debut with the company. She has also sung it at Opera Australia in Sydney, where she was recently seen as Laura Adorno (La Gioconda), the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples, the Semperoper in Dresden, the Savonlinna Opera Festival, Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London and the Teatr Wielki in Warsaw. Other recent engagements have included Azucena (Il trovatore) in Bremen, Brangäne (Tristan und Isolde) in Seville, Verdi’s Requiem at Zurich Opera House, La Cieca (La Gioconda) at the Salzburg Easter Festival and Ulrica (Un ballo in Maschera) in Valencia. This former member of the ensemble at Opera Breslau made her debut at the Teatr Wielki in Warsaw singing Fenena in 2003. This was followed by roles including Lisa and Hannah (Weinberg’s The (female) Passenger) at the Bregenz Festival, Teatr Wielki, Houston Grand Opera and the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Mafio Orsini (Lucrezia Borgia) and Amneris at Estonian National Opera in Tallinn, the Composer (Ariadne auf Naxos) at Krakow Opera, Fortune Teller / Abbess (The Fiery Angel) at Zurich Opera, Scottish Opera, in Bern, Erfurt and the Festival d’Aix en Provence, Xenia’s Nurse (Boris Godunov) at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan and Britten’s Lucretia at the Opéra national du Capitole in Toulouse. She also enjoys a busy concert career and works regularly with Krzystof Penderecki, in whose works, under his baton, this singer regularly appears, including the recording »Penderecki conducts Penderecki«, which was awarded a Grammy.
