Idil Kutay joined Oper Frankfurt's Opera Studio in 2023/24, making her house debut with Barbarina in Tilmann Köhler's new production of Le nozze di Figaro. Later in the season she sang Papagena in Die Zauberflöte, 1st Goblin in the first staged performances in Frankfurt of Wolfgang Fortner's Don Perlimplín's Love for Belisa in his Garden and 5th Maid in this revival of the new Elektra. She gained her masters at the Dutch National Opera Academy, where she sang roles including Cornelia (Graun's Cleopatra e Cesare), Rosalinde (Die Fledermaus), the title role in Pauline Viardot's Cendrillon and Beth March in Mark Adamo's contemporary adaptation of Little Women,  gaining invaluable experience working with conductors including Felix Bender and Karel Deseure and the director Dirk Schmeding. She won a scholarship to the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, where she was awarded her bachelors summa cum laude. She won 2nd prize and the 2019 Alīda Vāne Singing Competition in Latvia and reached the finals of the 2022 Neue Stimmen competition in Gütersloh.
