Uwe Dierksen

Uwe Dierksen is back at Oper Frankfurt, after his silent film / revue Ma(i)nhatta (2017), for this very unsual and special project. He has played the trombone in the Ensemble Modern since 1983 and works regularly with other well known musicians, composers, conductors, orchestras and ensembles. He performs freelance all over the world with orchestras including the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra (ORF), the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the West German Symphony Orchestra (WDR), the Arditti Quartett, Frankfurt Opern- and Museumsorchester, the Netherlands Radio Orchestra, Lisbon Concert Orchestra and Vienna Symphony Orchestra. His Pop-Rock composition A Blue Rock Thrush (mavis-music) was released by the Intuition label (Schott Verlag) in 2016. He was commissioned by ZDF Arte and the Murnau Foundation to write film music, for silent films, theatre music and music for industry films. His 2015 silent film-revue Welcome to American Vaudeville received its world premiere at the Komische Oper Berlin. He teaches at Lucerne University's Academy of Contemporary Music and the International Lucerne Festival Academy. He has been working intensively with schools in Frankfurt for the last eight years. Uwe Dierksen studied the trombone in Hannover, Hamburg and London and conducting at the Mozarteum in Salzburg.
