The British conductor Julia Jones is admired for her clear, fresh and sensitive interpretations of many works. Now she's back at Oper Frankfurt, where she conducted Falstaff, La Damnation de Faust, Così fan tutte, Idomeneo, Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Le nozze di Figaro, Die Zauberflöte and Cimarosa's L’italiana in Londra for this new production of Handel's Alcina. She enjoyed great success conducting Verdi at places including the Macerata Festival (Aida), Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux (Otello) and Welsh National Opera (La traviata). She's a regular guest at leading opera houses around the world including the Vienna, Berlin, Hamburg and Munich state operas, the festivals in Salzburg and Florence, in Palermo, Geneva, Barcelona, Sydney, Toronto and Washington. She was General Music Director in Wuppertal from 2016-2021, Chief Conductor of Theater Basel ( 1998 - 2002) and Chief Conductor of the Teatro Nacional de Sao Carlos and Orchestra Sinfonica Portuguesa (2008 - 2011). Earlier this season she enjoyed great success with Verdi's Otello at Den Norske Opera in Oslo and future plans include returning to the Royal Danish Opera and Covent Garden in London.
