Andreas Heise studied dance at the Palucca University for dance in Dresden and went on to become involved in acting, directing and singing.  He started his career as a dancer in 1998 at Leipzig Ballet before moving to Norwegian National Ballet in Oslo in 2003, where he created lead roles including Romeo in Romeo and Juliet, Lenski in John Cranko's Onegin and Mitch in John Neumeier's Endstation Sehnsucht and took part in ballets including ones choreographed by William Forsythe. He made his debut as a choreographer in 2015, in Paul Curran's production of Britten's Death in Venice at Garsington Opera. This was followed by How I would like to…  and Orfeo (Theater Koblenz) Nachtstück (Stuttgart Ballet). He has worked with the director Christof Loy before, on Ariodante (Salzburg Pfingst Festival), Capriccio (Teatro Real de Madrid) and Eugene Onegin (Den Norske Opera Oslo). His ballet Sandman was first seen at Oper Graz in 2018, which was followed by Purcell's Dido and Aeneas, which he directed and choreographed,  at Den Norske Opera in Oslo and Lamento with Stuttgart Ballett. His new version of Schubert's Winterreise was performed in Marvão, Portugal and the Erholungshaus in Leverkusen (Bayer Kultur) in 2019. This was followed by a tour to Lahore, Islamabad and Karatschi (Pakistan). His solo Du bist die Ruh as part of a gala, From Berlin with Love, at the Staatsballett  in Berlin opened at the beginning of the 2020/21 season.
