Ulf Röller

Ulf Röller has been running the ZDF's Studio in Brussels since 2022, responsible for reports about the European and Benelux unions and NATO. Born in Frankfurt, and an Eintracht fan, he joined the ZDF on an editorial traineeship from 1992 - 1994 before joining the ZDF Studio in Bonn as an editor and editor and reporter at the channel's headquarters, which moved to Berlin in 1999. After running the ZDF's Morning Magazine from 2008 - 2010, he held the same position in Washington (2010 - 2019) and Peking (2019 - 2022). In 2020 Ulf Röller and his team were awarded the Hanns Joachim Friedrichs Prize for television journalism, the jury praising his reporting from Wuhan in China during the Corona pandemic. He was awarded the Werner Holzer Prize for overseas journalism in Frankfurt's Römer in 2023 because, the jury said: »Whether it'sWashington, Peking or Brussels, Ulf Röller makes sure that messages from a country are heard and seen. He gets to the heart of grievances in a strong and unmistakable way, explains contexts sympathetically, building bridges to foreign countries in doing so.«
