Chorus Master
Manuel Pujol made his debut at Oper Frankfurt with Macbeth in 2024 before taking up the post of Chorus Master in April 2025, for our new productions of Turandot and Rossini's Tancredi (both being revived in 2026/27). This season his forces can also be heard in, amongst others, new productions of Tchaikovsky's Mazeppa, Chausson's Le roi Arthus, Verdi's Un ballo in maschera, Respighi's La fiamma, Martinů's The Greek Passion and the world premiere of Lucia Ronchetti's Battaglia - The Women of Palermo. He held the same post with the State Opera Chorus in Stuttgart from 2018/19 until March 2026, during which time the Chorus was voted »Chorus of the Year« in 2019 and 2020 by critics from Opernwelt magazine. His many productions in Stuttgart included Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, Parsifal, Otello, world premieres including Der rote Wal / The Red Whale and experimental productions such as Florentina Holzinger's SANCTA and La Fest, a baroque evening. Before going to Stuttgart he was Chorus Master and Kapellmeister in Dortmund and Görlitz, leading productions of La bohème, Nabucco and Die Zauberflöte, amongst others. Manuel Pujol received a scholarship from Germany's Dirigentenforum from 2010-2014 and won the 1st German Chorus Master Prize in 2014. During this time he also appeared in concert with the RIAS Chamber Chorus, and the NDR and MDR in Leipzig's radio choruses.
