Jim Igor Kallenberg is a research assistant at the Goethe University in Frankfurt's musicology department. He's doing his doctorate on Richard Wagner and post-war avant-garde music and was a guest scholar at Columbia University with Lydia Goehr, at the MoMA archive and the Gutenberg University in Mainz's Art Research Sound project. He has also worked as a dramaturge for Wien Modern and with composers on new producctions at places including the Heidelberg Spring Festival, Gessnerallee Zürich, Transart Bozen and the Musik Theatertagen in Vienna. Jim Igor Kallenberg also assisted on productions of Wozzeck and Julietta at Oper Frankfurt and has given talks at the universtities in Basel, Prague, Mainz, Frankfurt, Berlin, Bern and Jerusalem, the Volkshochschule in Frankfurt and returns to Oper Frankfurt to give pre-performances talks in 2024. He's a freelance critic for the FAZ, hr2-Kultur and other institutions. He co-edits partisan notes and edits some issues of Columbia Library's journal openwork. He studied philosophy and musicology in Frankfurt am Main and Vienna, and was granted scholarships by the Deutsche Bank and Richard Wagner stiftungs and held residences at Budapest's Spatial Sound Institute and the Künstlerdorf in Schöppingen. He is chairman of the Society for New Music in Frankfurt and a member of the Frankfurt Richard Wagner Verband.
