Karen von Trotha joined the Frankfurt Opern- und Museumsorchester in 1998. Born in Hamburg she started playing the piano before having her first violin lesson at the age of eight. She studied with Uwe Martin Haiberg at the University for Music in Lübeck and University of Arts in Berlin, and chamber music with Walter Levin (LaSalle Quartett). She gained early orchestral experience as leader of the National Youth Orchestra of Germany. Karen von Trotha performed with the NDR Symphony Orchestra, Berlin Philharmonic and the WDR Symphony Orchestra before moving to the Frankfurt Opern- und Museumsorchester.
