Aida
The Ethiopian princess Aida is enslaved to Amneris, an Egyptian princess. Both are in love with Radames, a young Egyptian chosen to lead the army against the Ethiopians.
This war in North Africa served as a symbol of the horrors of war at any time and place for Verdi, and the director Lydia Steier. Opera fans and curious, not yet fans, are helped to get to know an opera better by having fun becoming an active ensemble and seeing the work from the perspective of some of the characters in it. A close look at specifical musical passages deepens your understanding in an enriching way.
