Although Hänsel and Gretel's parents work from dawn to dusk there's sometimes not enough to eat at home! Hänsel and Gretel lark about dancing and singing, until their mother comes home, in a bad mood because the children haven't carried out their chores. When the jug of milk gets broken she's at a loss as to what to make for supper and sends the children into the woods to find strawberries. But it's dangerous in the woods, people say a witch lives there …
Little ones will probably never forget being so close to a handful of singers and musicians performing for them, live, that going to an opera when they're bigger will be something to really look forward to.
