The legendary Spanish tenor Alfredo Kraus influenced Ismael Jordi’s artistic development as a hero, mentor and friend. He studied in Madrid, where he was presented with the »Alfredo Kraus Best Pupil Award« by Queen Sofia. Since making his debut as Ernesto (Don Pasquale) in his home town of Jerez de la Frontera, he’s been much sought-after for Donizetti roles in operas including Lucia di Lammermoor, Lucrezia Borgia, Maria Stuarda and La favorite at leading opera houses since 2002. He’s also a fine interpreter of French romantic roles including Roméo, Faust and Werther, which he has sung in places including Madrid, Athens, Montréal, Seoul and Málaga. He also enjoyed great success as Alfredo (La Traviata) in Paris, London and New York and the Duke (Rigoletto) in Rome and Bilbao. Appearances in high profile Zarzuela productions complete his broad and varied repertoire. He feels honoured to give a recital in Frankfurt, where his mentor was a great favourite with audiences.
