Cameron Shahbazi (Countertenor)
& Malcolm Martineau (piano)

The Persian/Canadian countertenor Cameron Shahbazi  – کامران شهبازی – is one of the most exciting singers of his generation. His »individual and beautiful timbre« (De Trouw) lends itself equally to contemporary music and the baroque - testified by his recently singing Tolomeo in Giulio Cesare at the Netherlands Opera and in the world premiere of Picture a Day Like This at the Aix-en-Provence Festival. He appears in concert reguarly with leading orchestras including the Gürzenich and Stockhlm Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Now he's back in Frankfurt, where he enjoyed great success last season as Oberon in a new production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream and organised a benefit concert for Woman.Life.Freedom for human rights in Iran, for his first recital here and show you all another side of his artistry.

He and the pianist Malcolm Martineau's programme draws an arc from the past to the present day, with works by Purcell, Handel and Schubert alongside songs by Louis Armstrong and contemporary Iranian composers. They are joined by a special guest: the activist and artist Enissa Amani.

Here's their programme!
