Emmanuel Carlier began working regularly with La Fura dels Baus in 1993, with whom he created many performance events, theatre and opera productions including Bluebeard's Castle at the Opéra Garnier in Paris, Un ballo in maschera in Sydney, Schönberg's Erwartung in Lyon and, most recently, with Àlex Ollé, Le Retour d'Idoménée (based on Campra's Idoménée) at the Opéra de Lille, Idoménée at the Staatsoper in Berlin, L'histoire du soldat in Lausanne and Lyon. His creation for Respighi's Trilogia Romana took place in Valencia and Rome in 2011. He works in Paris as a video artist, concentrating on the relationship between the visual and time, the results of which was evident in his 1989 Le temps désanamorphosé in the Grand Palais in Paris. In 1995 he started creating video installations in France and abroad, including Temps mort for the Biennale d'art contemporain de Lyon, in which the movement in a given space is independent from movement in the time it's taking place. Another project was an experimental film Made in Reality.
