Bianca Tognocchi sang Gilda in Rigoletto at Oper Frankfurt in 2019/20,  a role she sang again here and at several Italian opera houses during the 2024/25 season, before joining the Ensemble in 2020/21. Last season she gave a recital in the Holzfoyer and enjoyed great success with Beauté in a new production of Magnard's Guercœur and Bianca in Rossini's Bianca e Falliero. During the 2025/26 season you can hear her as Despina, Aspasia and Amenaide in new productions of Mozart's Così fan tutte and Mitridate and Rossini's Tancredi. Other roles for the company have included Norina, Olga Sukarew & Madame Brillante in new productions of Donizetti's Don Pasquale, Giordano's Fedora & Cimarosa's L'italiana in Londra (get the DVD!), Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro, Blonde in Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Clorinda in La Cenerentola, an Italian Singer in Capriccio, Mary in a wonderful production of Schreker's Elusive Sound (get the CD!) and a Landlady / Crested Fowl in The Cunning Little Vixen.  Other recent guest engagements included Gasparina in Wolf-Ferrari's Il campiello at the Verona Teatro Filarmonica / Arena di Verona, Musetta in La bohème at the Teatro Petruzzelli di Bari, Leila in Bizet's Les Pecheurs du Perle and Mahler 4 in the Auditorio Nacional de Madrid. She's a regular guest at the Tirol Festival in Erl, where she sang the Nightingale in Braunfels’The Birds, Jemmy in Rossini's Guillaume Tell and Amina in Bellini's La sonnambula. Other engagements have taken her to places including the Opéra national de Lorraine in Nancy, La Scala Milan, the Teatro Regio in Turin and Teatro Donizetti in Bergamo, the Opéra de Chambre de Genève and Ravenna Festival. During her time with Oper Leipzig roles included Lucia di Lammermoor, which she also sang at the Staatstheater in Darmstadt and Deutsch Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf, Adina (L’elisir d’amore), Frasquita (Carmen), Esmeralda (The Bartered Bride) and Gilda. She studied at the Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi in Milan.
