Polish born soprano Monika Buczkowska-Ward made her debut in Germany at Oper Frankfurt in 2019/20, singing Lydie in a new production of Fauré's Pénélope, before joining the ensemble in 2020/21 and thrilling audiences with roles including Lady Harriet (Martha) Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte), Helena (Britten's A Midsummer Night's Dream), Livia (Cimarosa's L'italiana in Londra), Dorinda (Orlando) Eudoxie (La Juive) and Gretel. Last season she enjoyed great success singing the title role in a new production of Handel's Alcina and Oksana for the first time in Rimsky-Korsakov's Christmas Eve (performance of the Year 2022 - get the DVD!) and Madeleine / Madame de Latour in Adams's Le postillon de Lonjumeau, a role with which she enjoyed great sucess when it first opened at the Tirol Festival in Erl. During the 2025/26 season she adds two roles to her repertoire: Sifare and Bellezza in new productions of Mozart's Mitridate and Handel's The Triumph of Time and Truth. Other roles in recent seasons included 1st Lady in Die Zauberflöte, Leonora in a new production of Nielsen's Masquerade, Suor Genovieffa in Suor Angelica and Nella in Gianni Schicchi - Puccini's Il trittico. She was a member of the Teatr Wielki in Warsaw's Young Talents Development Programme (Opera Academy) before coming to Frankfurt, where she sang Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro), Papagena in Kosky's Die Zauberflöte and Eurydike (Offenbach's Orpheus in the Underworld).  Guest engagements have included Prokofiev's Fiery Angel under Kazushi Ōno at the Teatr Wiekli - a co-production with the Festival d'Aix en Provence, Freia and 3rd Norn in Rheingold and Götterdämmerung in Erl, Fiordiligi at the Opéra National du Rhin and Helena in Midsummer Night's Dream at the Staatsoper in Hanover.
