Born in Chernihiv, Ukraine, Andrii Punko started training at Kyiv's College for choreography in 2016 moving to the University for Music and the Performing Arts in Frankfurt am Main in 2019, where he specialised in classical ballet, contemporary dance and improvisation. He finished his apprenticeship at the Dance Theatre in Heidelberg, under Iván Pérez's direction,i n 2022/23. He performed for various projects and festivals, including the Kunstfest in Weimar and Frankfurt's ZUKUNFT TANZT, Kurz:getanzt and Showcase, working with artists including choreographers Dieter Heitkamp, Cyril Baldy, Isabella Schadt, Robyn Orlyn, Cameron McMillan, Marguerite Donlon and Kaya Kolodziejczyk. He started developing his own experimental choreographic works for Frankfurt's free scene, including One in a Billion, In My Flop Era and the political duration performance: Spring/Summer 2024 Couture. Earlier this season he took part in a production of Lucia di Lammermoor at the Staatstheater in Nürnberg and is making his debut at Oper Frankfurt in this new production of Tannhäuser.
