Christopher Jähnig is back at Oper Frankfurt, where he made his debut in the extremely successful world premiere of Vito Žuraj’s Blühen in the Bockenheimer Depot which was followed by a new production of a Britten Prodigal Son / Burning Fiery Furnace double bill, to sing a Flemish Deputy in this revival of Don Carlos. He grew up in Stralsund where he has his first singing lessons with Jörg Simon. After studying at the University for Music and Theatre in Rostock he went to continue his vocal studies with Thomas Heyer at the University for Music and the Performing Arts in Frankfurt. He made his debut at the Burg Festival in Bad Vibel in 2019, singing Don Magnifico in Rossinis La Cenerentola, the same year he was awarded a scholarship by the Fritz Wunderlich Society. During the 2021/22 season he sang a Flemish Deputy in Verdi’s Don Carlos at the Staatstheater in Wiesbaden and sang in the Vienna State Opera’s chorus at the Salzburg Festival. His concert repertoire ranges from Bach, Beethoven and Fauré.
