Jader Bignamini is back at Oper Frankfurt, where he conducted concert performances of Verdi's Oberto, performances of Il trovatore, a new La forza del destino and revival of Rigoletto for some performances of our wonderful Carmen. He took up the post of Chief Conductor of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra in 2020/21. Plans this season include Tosca at the Opéra national de Paris, Orff's Carmina burana and Dvorak 9 with the Detroit Symphpny Orchestra and La bohème at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. Recent highlights included Turandot at the Arena di Verona, his debut with the Canadian Opera Company, with Gianni Schicchi, Simone Boccanegra at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and Madama Butterfly and Manon Lescaut at the Vienna State Opera. Other engagements have included Cavalleria rusticana at Michigan Opera Theatre, Manon Lescaut at the Bolschoi in Moscow, La traviata and Andrea Chénier in Tokyo, La Bohème at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, La traviata and Turandot at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, Madama Butterfly and I puritani at the Teatro Massimo di Palermo and Aida and Il trovatore in Rome. He has appeared in concert with many leading European orchestras and enjoyed success at places including the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro, the Maggio Musicale in Florence and Teatro Municipal in São Paulo. He began his artistic career as a clarinettist with the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi under Riccardo Chailly, who he began assisting in 2010.
