The German-British conductor Tim Anderson is making his debut at Oper Frankfurt with this revival of Waiting for Today (pieces by Schönberg and Frank Martin). He's admired for being one of the best interpreters of 20th and 21st century works. Recent projects included the world premieres of Gordon Kampe's Die Kreide im Mund des Wolfs / The Chalk in the Wolf's Jaws at the Hamburg State Opera and Mark-Anthony Turnage's The Railway Children in Glyndebourne, Brett Dean's Hamlet at the Sydney Opera House, Thomas Adès’ Powder Her Face at the Semperoper in Dresden, Bernhard Lang's Hiob at the Stadttheater in Klagenfurt (voted »Best World Premiere« with an 2024 Austrian Music Theater Prize), Pierre Boulez's Le Marteau sans maître with Klangforum Wien in Tokyo and Gerald Barry's The Intelligence Park (London Sinfonietta). Other operatic engagements have taken him to the Teatro Real in Madrid, Dutch National Opera and the Opéra national de Montpellier. Concert work has taken him to venues including the Konzerthaus in Vienna, the South Bank and Barbican centres in London, the Hong Kong Arts Centre and the Metropolitan Festival Hall in Tokyo. The album Abyss and Caress, a portrait of the Polish-American composer Lucia Dlugoszewski, won a prize from the German Recording critics in 2024. He studied at New College, Oxford, and the Panula Academy in Helsinki. He was interim Kapellmeister at the Deutsche Oper Berlin in 2023.
