During the 2025/26 season Katharina Kastening, back in Frankfurt for this new production of Handel's The Triumph of Time and Enlightenment, directed Un ballo in maschera at Theater Erfurt and La Traviata and the Stadttheater in Bremerhaven. Recent productions included The Turn of the Screw and the Golden Dragon at Oper Halle, Thumbprint at Oper Wuppertal, La Tragédie de Carmen at the Buxton International Festival, a digital Carnival of the Animals for Oper Frankfurt, Brontë at the Arcola Theatre in London, Daphnis et Chloë for Opera Northern Ireland and Rodrigo for Children at the Handel Festival in Göttingen. Her production of Paderewski's Manru (a co-prodution: Oper Halle & the Opéra National de Lorraine) won the 2022 FAUST Perspective Prize and the Syndicat de la Critique's 2022/23 Grand Prix. Future plans include new productions of Handel's Faramondo at the Handel Festival in Karlsruhe and Otello at Oper Wuppertal. Productions on which she worked as associate director included Tosca  at the Art Centre in Seoul and in Santa Fe, Tannhäuser for Tokyo Nikkikai Opera, Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg at the Vienna State Opera, a Weill / Orff Tsar Wants his Photograph Taken / Clever Woman double bill and Boris Godunov at Oper Frankfurt, Giulio Cesare in Egitto at the Theater an der Wien, La Forza del Destino at the Semper Oper in Dresden, The Wreckers at the Staatstheater in Karlsruhe and Tosca at the Emirates Palace Auditorium Abu Dhabi. She assisted many internationally renowned directors and works often with Keith Warner. She worked assisting directors and rehearsing revivals at Oper Frankfurt from 2019 - 2023.
