Silvia Gatto
Italian-born Silvia Gatto's been working as a director's assistant and rehearing revivals at Oper Frankfurt since the 2024/25 season, during which she director Jakob Vinje's Princess Anna or How to find a Hero. She studied music and theatre in Como, Milan and Venice, where she directed for the first time, a staged version of George Orwell's 1984 and wrote articles and reviews. She moved to France, where she assisted on works directed by Valérie Dréville, Guillaume Leveque and Yuri Pogrebnitchko at the ERACM – Ecole Régionale d'Acteurs de Cannes et Marseille and studied directing operas at the Opéra National de Lorraine. She was involved in productions at places including the Opéra de Nice, Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, the Festival Soirées Lyriques in Sanxay, Atelier Lyrique in Tourcoing, the Mariinsky in St. Petersburg andTeatro Petruzzelli di Bari. She worked as a director's assistant and rehearsed revivals at Hessen's Staatstheater in Wiesbaden until 2024, where she directed Evviva la rossa! with Romina Boscolo as part of the International May Festival, which was followed by Verdi's Falstaff with Noah Perktold in 2024, and staged a concert performance of Nabucco. She also directed Tosca for Theater Bonn.
