Video artist Tabea Rothfuchs is working at Oper Frankfurt for the first time, on this new production of Ligeti’s Le Grand Macabre. Born in Switzlerland, she regularly designs video for plays, operas and performances. She achieved her bachelors in Audio-Visual Communication at the University for Form and Art in Basel and her Masters in Transdisciplinary Arts in Zürich. During the last ten years she has made many video projects come true for renowned institutions including the Theater an der Wien, the Philharmonie in Berlin, Zurich Opera, the Bolschoi in Moscow and Theater Basel, helping to create ballet productions of The Fairy Queen, Eugene Onegin and Death in Venice. She works reguarly with directors including Barbora Horáková Joly, Lydia Steier, Sebastian Nübling, Chris Kondek and Georges Delnon. Her interactive installation Emergence was nominated for a 2016 Prix Ars Electronica in Linz. Her artistic research project I lost time and space. Where am I? Tales of Chronic Pain was published by the University of Arts in Zurich in 2021. She was taught at the ETH Zürich for Architecture and Arts by Karin Sander from 2019 - 2021.
