After graduating in texile and fashion design at the Armgartstrasse University for Applied Science in Hamburg Carl-Christian Andresen went to Paris for four years, where he worked for Chloé, Jean-Charles de Castlebajac and John Galliano, amongst others. He returned to Germany in 2006 as an artistic advisor for costumes in drama and opera. He started working with Silke Willrett in 2008. He has worked at places including the Thalia Theater Hamburg, the Hamburg State Opera, the Komische, Deutsche State operas in Berlin, Nederlands Opera, Zurich Opera, the Vienna State Opera, the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels, Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Aalto-Theater in Essen and the Teatro Mayor in Bogotá. He designed costumes for works including Le nozze di Figaro at the Landestheater in Detmold (dir: Jan Essinger), Le journal de Nijinsky at the Grand Théâtre Bordeaux (dir: Carolyn Sittig), The Cousin from Dingsda at Theater Ulm (dir: Christian Poewe), Die Zauberflöte at the Oper Oder/Spree summer festival and Dinorah am Theater Görlitz (all directed by Geertje Boeden).  He was set and costume designer for Thierry Tidrow's opera Persona at the Staatstheater in Darmstadt. He has also worked on various films and ads, including My Circumcision (which won the 2013 Max Ophüls Prize for best short film) and a Musi Clip Fräulein Sommer, which won the 2014 UNICATO Award for best musicvideo.
