Born in Linz, Gundula Leitner studied at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. She was deputy solo cellist at the Royal Opera House in London from 2022-24 and, as a guest, with the London Symphony Orchestra and plays regularly with other leading orchestras including the Vienna Philharmonic, the WDR Sinfonieorchester and the La Monnaie in Brussels' orchestra, where she was solo cellist for the 2016/17 season. A passionate chamber musician, she's a member of the Agnes Quartet, based in Cologne. In her free time she loves cooking and trying  out new restaurants with friends. She joined the Frankfurt Opern und Museumsorchester as a deputy solo cellist at the beginning of the 2024/25 season.
