Hartmut Krause was born in Berlin where he went on to study with Prof. Martens at the Hanns Eisler University for Music. He worked as a substitute with the Deutsche Staatsoper Berlin when he was 19 before taking on a permanent position with the Berlin Konzerthaus Orchester two years later. He joined the first violins at the Frankfurt Opern- und Museumsorchester in 1988, when he was 23. Whilst still a student he appeared as soloist with various orchestras, including the Deutsche Philharmonie Merck, of which he was concert master from 1994 - 2006 war. In 2002 he and musicians from India and Germany founded the Indo-German Confluence Festival, which runs events including masterclasses, chamber and orchestral music and violin competitions. This also led to the German Youth Orchestra and Jazz Orchestra going on tour to Goa. Hartmut Krause has been playing in the first violins of the Bayreuth Festival Orchestra since 2002. He enjoys the joie de vivre of salon music in expressive arrangements played by the salon dance orchestra he and his colleagues founded in 2006.
