Diemut Schneider started learning the clarinet when she was nine, with her sisters, who all played instruments. She learned a tremendous amount playing in youth orchestras, sitting surrounded by wonderful colleagues, making music and feeling deeply emotionally connected with one another made one thing clear: she wanted to be an orchestral musician. She studied with Prof. Hans Deinzer and Prof. Peter Löffler, joined the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie and European Youth Orchestra EUYO, receiving scholarships from the German People and the Märkische Kultur Konferenz. Her former wind quintet, the Albert Schweitzer Quintet, won prizes at the International ARD Music Competition in Munich and the German Music Competition. She has been deputy solo clarinet at the Frankfurter Opern- und Museumsorchester since 1989, so her dream came true.
