Two young people, in love for the first time, finally end up together and after trying out all sorts of drinks: Nemorino is young, a bit shy and poor. Adina is clever, a real book worm and rich. When Belcore turns up Nemorino has to act fast, because this glamour boy throws himself at Adina's feet. Nemorino's chances dwindle. A quack doctor comes to the rescue: Dulcamara's bottles have healed people all over Europe, as long as they believe in his medicine. Maybe his love potion works too?
