Maria Agresta (soprano)
& Vincenzo Scalera (piano)

This Italian soprano is one of the most sought-after in the world, and not only because of her sensational success with Elena in Verdi's I vespri siciliani at the Teatro Regio Turin. Alongside Verdi's lead roles such as Violetta, Desdemona, Leonora (Il trovatore), Amelia and Odabella she also thrills audiences with Puccini's leading ladies: Mimi, Liu, Cio-cio-san, Suor Angelica and Tosca. She caused another world-wide sensation with her Norma. Her repertoire also includes roles in lesser known operas: the title role in Donizetti's Gemma di Vergy in Bergamo (available on DVD) and Julia in Spontini's La Vestale at the Semperoper in Dresden. Now she's coming back in Frankfurt, where our audiences heard her singing another rarity in 2016, when she made her house debut singing Leonora in Verdi's very first opera, Oberto, conte di San Bonifacio, to sing you a recital! - with music by Cilea, Puccini, Verdi, Tosti, Tirindelli, Poulenc and Gastaldon. Here's their programme!
