Oper Frankfurt in Your Home
We are planning new things for you to enjoy at home – the wonderful series of online concerts and talks (in German) last spring are still available on the website.
Trying to keep you informed and happy is one of the greatest challenges of all, the whole thing is just so complicated and up in the air. So please bear with us, the people working to help you are under a lot of stress. They will try and sort things out as quickly as humanly possible.
PERFORMANCES UP TO AND INCLUDING NOVEMBER 1
Are taking place as planned. Click below for information about changes to programming and our corona safety guidelines.
Changes in programming
Restrictions imposed on rehearsal and performing conditions mean that further changes have had to be made to the season:
– Die Banditen/The Bandits has been replaced by La serva padrona / Stabat mater
– Der Traumgörge has been replaced by Le vin herbé
– Carmen has been replaced by further performances of Manon Lescaut
– Aramsamsam in December and Opera for Children in January/February have been cancelled
Introductory talks (in German) in the Holzfoyer on video are available a day or two before new productions or revivals open on YouTube.
Corona still rules the roost
Distance keeping rules on stage and in the pit mean that most works have been adapted for a smaller orchestra and singers on stage have to perform 6 metres away from the pit. The chorus sings with masks on, which means they can be closer together, but this still makes things very difficult and so chorus participation has sometimes had to be reduced or cut altogether. We try and find creative solutions to problems on stage, but productions have sometimes had to be adapted. The singers in Xerxes were/are undergoing intensive corona testing, allowing them to come into close contact with one another on stage.
YOUR VISIT TO THE OPERA – IMPORTANT HYGIENE RULES
We take a note your personal data when you buy tickets so that contact tracing is made quick and easy. Please bring your passport / identity card with you when purchase tickets and attend performances.
Evening box office opens one hour before performances begin, dealing with tickets for that performance only.
Doors open one hour before performances begin, the auditorium 15 minutes later. Please take your places fairly quickly so that queues don't build up by the doors.
General hygiene rules
Please think of others and keep away from people if you are going to sneeze or cough, wash your hands use the disinfection dispensers. All contact surfaces are disinfected regularly every day. Please wear a mask at all times while in the theatre, during performances too.
We are allowed to admit 390 people into the auditorium at the moment, every 2nd row remains empty and there must be two empty seats between people or couples. People from the same household can talk to front of house staff to ask if they may sit together.
Cloakrooms are open again. To minimize contact please place things like scarves and hats into the pockets or sleeves of your own coat/jacket.
Catering is on offer again in the Wolken foyer (1st floor). Please wear a mask, you can only remove it to eat and drink something. If the weather is nice enough a bar will be open outside the building.
You can find more detailed hygiene outlines here. Please note that things might change, for the better or worse, at short notice.
