Katharina Kraatz, born in Potsdam-Babelsberg, studied costume design at the HAW in Hamburg and set design at the University for Arts in Berlin-Weißensee. Whilst still a student she designed costumes for places including the St. Pauli-Theater and Schauspielhaus in Hamburg, the Kaltstart Festival, Ballhaus East Berlin and Berlin's  Festival für Neue Musik. After completing her set designing studies she worked as a costume designer's assistant at Oper Frankfurt for three years. She's been working as a free-lance costume designer and designer's assistant since 2020 for opera, theatre and films. She and Lotte Goos recently designed the costumes for The view from a Bridge at Schauspiel Frankfurt.
