Anna-Sofia Kirsch, working at Oper Frankfurt for the first time on this new production of Agostino Steffani's Amor vien dal destino, has been a freelance set designer since 2020. She collaborates regularly with the director Calixto Bieito, on productions including The Exterminating Angel at the Opera Bastille in Paris, Eliogabalo at Zurich Opera, Suor Angelica / Il Prigioniero at the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome and Jakob Lenz at the National Theater in Mannheim. She also staged works with Yona Kim, Victoria Stevens and Krystian Lada. She and Victoria Stevens came second in the 2022 European Opera Direction Prize and directed The House of Usher at the Staatsoper in Hannover. She was nominated for »Designer of the Year« at the 2024 International Opera Awards. Future plans include projects with R.B. Schlather at Den Norske Opera in Oslo and the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels. She studierte Scenography in Dortmund before working as a set designer assistant at places including the Nationaltheater in Mannheim.
